While the M1 MacBook Air seemed promising, I wanted to explore the potential of the M2 MacBook Air and assess if it could address the limitations of its predecessor.

Firstly, the pricing for the M2 MacBook Air was not justifiable, as it is slightly overpriced compared to the value for money of the M1 MacBook Air. Additionally, the base variant included only 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD, which may lead to performance limitations in the long run. To ensure optimal performance and storage capacity, one would need to invest more in additional storage options and RAM, impacting the overall cost.

Ruling out the MacBook Air

After careful evaluation, I had to rule out the MacBook Air due to specific reasons that outweighed its advantages.

• M1 Air - Outdated design and limited software support: One of the significant factors was the MacBook Air's design, which had remained relatively unchanged since its 2020 release. As a consumer, I sought a laptop that not only performed well but also looked modern and appealing. Additionally, with limited software support expected for the M1 MacBook Air, it raised concerns about its longevity and ability to receive future updates and features.
• M2 Air - Pricing and performance concerns: While the M1 MacBook Air's affordability is enticing, the pricing of the M2 MacBook Air may not justify the incremental improvements it offers. The base variant's limited RAM and storage capacity can impact the laptop's performance and hinder its suitability for long-term usage. Investing in additional storage and RAM options would be necessary to protect my long-term investment in a laptop and with that pricing option, the 14inch M1 Pro Macbook Pro was better value for money than M2 Macbook Air.

After ruling out the MacBook Air, I turned my attention to exploring alternatives that could better meet my needs.

• 14-inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro: The MacBook Pro emerged as a compelling option with its powerful performance, advanced processors, enhanced cooling system, and improved promotion display with 120hz refresh rate. Designed for professionals and power users, the MacBook Pro offered additional features like the mini-LED display and extra ports, catering to my specific requirements.

In conclusion, the MacBook Air offered various benefits for personal usage, especially with the advancements introduced in the M1 and M2 models. However, due to its outdated design, limited software support, pricing concerns, and performance limitations, I had to rule out the MacBook Air from my shopping list. Exploring alternatives such as the MacBook Pro or opting for the M2 MacBook Air with upgraded storage and RAM could provide more suitable solutions based on individual needs and preferences.

iOS Devices: Need for Local NAT Storage Backup

While Apple offers the convenience of iCloud backup, it's essential to provide users with alternative options. This article explores the need for an option to back up iOS devices like iPhones and iPads to local NAT storage drives, providing users with more control, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility.

Why waiting for M2 Pro is not worth it

Apple could either have an October event in 2022 or could just have press release about the latest product or software launches, as most considerable announcements are covered in September event and the latest launch could only be minor. However, for most performance-oriented users, the M2 Pro would be their most awaited launch and the probability of its launch is much higher now than ever. For me, the M2 Pro launch would not be as significant as the M1 Pro version and may have following implications.

• M2 Pro performance increase would be negligible: With the launch of M2 version as a successor to M1 version, Apple has made it clear that there would not be considerable increase in performance or new features in every version of the Chipset launch and they would slow down their innovations in future releases. In such decisions, the M2 Pro performance would not be as considerable as M1 Pro and other than slight configuration tweaks, there would not be much drastic improvements.
• Same design and no major unique features: The M1 Pro version were already packed up with lot of new features like Pro-motion display and advanced SSD/Media engine configurations. So, the newer M2 Pro version might not have any drastic configuration updates or hardware changes over the earlier M1 Pro version, as the change in design or new feature might have been tipped in their latest MacOS software launch.

Continued to use my fault AirPods Pro for few reasons

I bought my AirPods Pro during the initial months of launch and Apple has come out with new announcement that due to manufacturing defect, the product manufactured before Oct’20 would be replaced for FREE. Post this announcement, I had suspicious about my AirPods Pro manufacturing defect, but continued to use the product for more than a year for my own reason as detailed below

• COVID Outbreak and transport restrictions: After suspecting that my AirPods Pro has manufacturing defect, I wanted to check the product at Apple store for the same and get FREE replacement. However, when I was about to go the Apple store there was COVID restriction at my location and the stores were completely closed, I had no other option but to postpone my plan.
• Usage scratches & dents in the AirPods Pro stem and case: As I was delaying my visit to the Apple store due to COVID restrictions, there was another notable concern of scratches on the AirPods Pro stem and on the case. I was skeptical about the scratches and dent on the product and was worried whether the claim would be rejected due to product damage while usage.

The above factors delayed my visit to the Apple store, and I continued to use my AirPods pro with the manufacturing defect for more than a year. My 2012 MacBook Pro started to create issues after long time

I have been using 2012 MacBook pro for a long time and I always prefer MacBook devices for their reliability and long-term usability. However, out of no-where I experienced following symptoms in my MacBook pro and was grateful that it was working still now.

• Random shutdown and SMC reset: One fine day, while I was working on my personal project out of nowhere, my MacBook pro shutdown all by itself and it didn’t restart as it usually does in my earlier times when I stress out the RAM with multiple projects. This random shutdown was suspicious, the luck was in my favor, as my MacBook was able to boot again, and I didn’t want to take a chance and performed SMC reset. So, the issue was resolved for the time being and continued my personal project work.
• Power Failure and Cable Change: After SMC reset, my 2012 MacBook pro was working fine for past few weeks and out of nowhere the laptop got shutdown again. But this time laptop was not booting as well, and I was completely scared. After few minutes, I noticed that there was no light in the power cable and diagnosed that the power cable had issues and time has come for replacement. After power cable replacement, the laptop was working fine, and it was not the end.

Storage partition & limit option availability in OneDrive

OneDrive have become my preferred online cloud storage option and I have started to upload all my important work files to OneDrive. It has been few months since I have started to use OneDrive as my preferred cloud storage option and started to use work files directly from OneDrive folder integration into MAC operating system. However, there are few constraints that I have encountered while I was using OneDrive and following are my concerns. 

• Limit storage in each folder: Since OneDrive provides vast storage option of 1TB for each user in the family, it has become difficult to keep a check on storage that is being used by each folder and should include option to limit storage to certain levels for specific folder, so that the folder can be cleaned up from unwanted files or remove unnecessary backups.

• Storage Partition between system files and Photo’s backup: OneDrive has been primary backup solution for all my needs, including important work files and to back-up all my photos taken on my iPhone. However, there is no option to partition the folder structure within OneDrive to separate the files that is being uploaded into work files and exclude the personal photos getting merged into work file history.

iCloud issues: Lack of always on this device option in iCloud

Apple has numerous iCloud features and lot of exclusive in-built option in MacOS, however there was one of the most annoying option for its users. Let me detail the constraints for users using iCloud in Mac operating system

• Files getting removed frequently: While storing the files in iCloud, the files are removed randomly and occasionally without no reason. Later, I figured that the files are removed from iCloud folders to save some storage and no matter how much space available in the hard disk, the files are removed from iCloud folders. 
• Lack of option available to make files available offline: iCloud or Mac Operating system does not have option to enable file available in offline mode and at times, the important files get deleted. There should have been preference option to enable the iCloud files to be available always in the Mac computer and not be deleted for saving storage.

Most annoying Spam mails and new features suggestions for Gmail

Recent times for most people across globe, the most annoying part of checking their mails is the spam mails pumped by most unsecured servers and by automated bots. The most concerning part is that the mail service providers have not enforced few restrictions to block spam mails from specific domains and following are my views on introducing new features by mail service providers like Gmail. 

• Option to block all mails from specific domain address: Usually we get repeated mails from specific domain address and only the prefix name changes. Gmail can provide an option for users to block mails from specific domains and all future mails with the repeated content. 
• Option to report domain names and block further mails: Gmail provides basic option to report phishing or spam mails, however those mails are just moved to Junk folder and again new mail is received from same domain name. There should have been option report the domain names as well and post reporting the mail, the domain should be blocked from sending any further mails to mail address.

Pointers to be considered while buying Treadmill

As stated in the earlier articles, I have been planning to get treadmill for a long time and finalized to get treadmill through online shopping option. However, the most treadmill products available in online shopping mode was lacking one feature or the other. So, I will further detail about the initial assessment of treadmill and how it evolved. 

• Affordability: My initial filtering of treadmill was with its price and availability. At first, the treadmill starting prices seems to be affordable and was pretending to be within the reach. However, only while digging in furthermore understood that as prices of treadmill goes up the availability of features and the quality of the product increases exponentially. 
• Quality of treadmill: after assessing the initial price list of treadmill, I understood that the quality of the product matters the most and it ensures that the product has longer shelf life with minimal issues. After knowing about the quality of the treadmill, further digging in revealed that with addition of quality comes the new and advanced inbuilt features. The feature list of the treadmill is one of the most intriguing factors while buying and often it causes to drag budget further.

How apple can transform their Smart watch market

I always have preference for smart watch wearables and feel Apple Watch was ahead of competition and has one of the most trusted health tracking features. However, the most disappointing fact about Apple smart watch is its price and affordability. Apple has always maintained its exclusivity and often offer its new features or innovations at premium price; however, Apple can break this tradition and can reach most people by following options. 

• Apple smart band device: Apple can launch smart bands with only basic health tracking features like heart rate monitoring and steps counter. By limiting the features and tracking options, Apple can keep the device within affordable price range and can help reach more people about having smart wearables. 
• Alternative smart wearable solution for non-Apple devices: As Apple Watch wearable has one of the most sought-after features, its exclusivity with only iOS device is a real bummer for most users. As for people like me, I use iOS devices and have Apple ecosystem access, however when I wanted to use Apple Watch to track health condition of my elderly parents it was a real showstopper. As my parents are comfortable using android phones and are hesitant to switch over iOS devices.

Disappointments from Apple’s recent April Event

Apple event on 20th April had mixed feelings for me, as I was expecting few out of the box announcements from Apple and they would surprise everyone with their trademark “one last thing”. However, there was no such announcements from Apple and the event seemed as predicted from tech experts. Here are few out of the box expectations from me. 

• Upcoming redesigned Apple Watch: Apple Watch design has been consistent since launch and there was no major redesign or update on design. I was expecting Apple to show a glimpse of next generation Apple Watch with exclusive features and tempting redesign. 
• Upcoming AirPods 3: the redesigned AirPods have been in rumours for a long time and the leak sites were going a step ahead, by showing glimpses of next version of AirPods. However, for no reason Apple had not made any comment on the same and the most worrying part is that, if at all Apple is going to launch next version of AirPods, there was a huge confusion. Whether the newer version is going to be replacement of AirPods 2 or more advanced version of AirPods Pro.

Frustrated with announcement from Google Photos

With Google announcing that all photos uploaded to the photo's app post June, will be accumulated against overall account storage, I have been actively looking out for alternative online cloud storage choice with reliability and affordable pricing plan. Finally, I have zeroed on to Microsoft’s OneDrive as my preferred storage choice and while about to pay for the subscription, I noticed a real bummer against OneDrive. Recently, OneDrive app have decided to stop support for the chrome-cast and now users will not be able to share their photos or videos to big TV through Chrome-cast. It was real shocker to me as I have decided OneDrive as my preferred online storage option to backup all my photos and videos, now I come across the news that the OneDrive app has stopped support for chrome-cast. This news was real shocker, as my priority for choice of OneDrive as my preferred online cloud storage was based on assumption that, it had built-in support for chrome-cast. I was using my wife’s android phone for past few months and was waiting for launch of affordable version of iPhone from Apple. Looped again with the same irritating onsite team

I was without work for a long time due to system issues and lockdown restrictions, finally, the issue was resolved, and I was back into my team for work. No support from the manager and additional tasks

With no option but to work on all the tasks assigned by the onsite team, I was expecting at least some support from my manager to stand against them and convey that we will work on the documents once we get finalized requirements from the client. So, after reaching my hometown for a long vacation, I had to connect from home for office work for 2 days and was hoping that I don’t get work while connecting from home. Working tirelessly for the second consecutive day to complete

Based on my discussion with the offshore delivery lead, we have concluded that we will go ahead with whatever storyline we have initially drafted and send the updated document to the on-site team for further review since we do not have any updates for the document, which was sent earlier. My approach to complete initial version

With no support from my manger and feeble information from my teammates, I was struggling a lot to complete the initial version of the document and to share it with the leadership team for review. After politely declining to send a deck with draft outline and slides by EOD, I closed the conversation and was taking care of other activities pending at my end. I was completely surprised by the request, because before few hours I was clearly detailing out the reasons to the delivery person not to publish any version, as it would draw too many comments and would divert from client requirements. In addition, my manager told that he got comment from the offshore delivery lead that the slide deck which I prepared was not coming out, what was actually expect from my team and my manager was suggested to review my work every time when I send out the slides. Completely unexpected happened in Monday call

Monday morning started and I was again working on this irritating opportunity. I was trying to get as much information as possible from the available sources and simultaneously I was also updating the deck based upon the commands shared by the leaders in the earlier call. In meantime, I was also checking with delivery POC who was assigned from offshore to support me on this opportunity, that what are all the updates that required in today’s call and the information that we need to collate based upon the review. However, the offshore delivery POC was too busy and was requesting me to schedule a call later in the afternoon to review the updates and information that might be required from his end. I politely told him that I would schedule a call, but in meantime I will get the necessary information and the slides as much as possible from my end for the today’s call. Discussion and things happening while rating finalization

I was getting even more anxious about my rating, as my teammate who reports to the other manager got his rating and the ratings for entire team was finalized. While I was waiting anxiously for my rating colleague who sits next to my seat also confirmed that rating have been shared to them by their team manager. There was discussion happening around the office that the rating for all employees would be shared earliest by 2 or 3 days. I was anxious about my rating and was looking forward for my rating and comments from my manager. Since, I was given first rating for the previous year and got information that my colleagues from other location was not happy about it and wanted to give first rating to another colleague. However, most of my teammates knew that I was working hard on my deliverables and always exceeded expectations from key owners, and I was also sure that I would not be awarded third rating. How should I decide about writing these posts?

It’s been long time since I was writing posts for my sites and know very few of my readers would feel disappointed about the continuation or frequent post updates. However, I would like to clarify few things from end as well and how difficult it is for me to write these posts with all my busy work schedule, personal work and family commitments.
