No support from the manager and additional tasks

With no option but to work on all the tasks assigned by the onsite team, I was expecting at least some support from my manager to stand against them and convey that we will work on the documents once we get finalized requirements from the client. Therefore, I started my work by prioritizing all the task lists shared by the onsite and was looking to address those tasks as early as possible. However, out of nowhere my manager inquired me about the open tasks and believing that my manager will support me in getting it completed, I gave a status update on all tasks. He closed the conversation with just a single acknowledgment and did not bother me with my task list. Within a few minutes, my manager messaged me again with new work out of nowhere and wanted the work to be completed within a short time. Now, I had two tasks in my hand, a task assigned by the onsite team and the additional task was from my manager with irrelevant details. To know more on how I completed both tasks, please feel free to check out the blog posts in "G R Team Sites”.

New long work from my manager

So, after reaching my hometown for a long vacation, I had to connect from home for office work for 2 days and was hoping that I don’t get work while connecting from home. Till forenoon, there was absolute silence in my mailbox and was just hoping that it would be like the same for the next 2 days. Unfortunately, all my hope just vanished away in a second by my manager and he was pinging me for new work out of nowhere. I was completely furious over new work from my manager and didn’t want to respond to those emails. However, after a long delay, I had no other option but to reply his with all the documents that he has requested for. I was hoping that he would acknowledge my work, but he replied to my mail with a long thread detailing additional documents and the earliest update by the end of the day. I was completely furious and wanted to just drop notes stating that I would not be able to get all those documents in a day and would require additional time than anticipated. However, I got an idea of checking those documents in my Company's share point folder, and to my surprise, I found exact requested documents. Working tirelessly for the second consecutive day to complete

Based on my discussion with the offshore delivery lead, we have concluded that we will go ahead with whatever storyline we have initially drafted and send the updated document to the on-site team for further review since we do not have any updates for the document, which was sent earlier. Again, the delivery person and I were working hard throughout the day, as both of us have vacation plans coming up and wanted to close this service request as early as possible. However, we were anxious about our thought process, whether the changes we were making were relevant or matching the client detailed requirements. Finally, by close of the day after so much of hard work and tireless discussion, we were able to complete the document. Post completion, I called the offshore delivery lead and was discussing the changes made today and how the entire document was structured, suddenly out of nowhere the delivery lead was checking whether we covered all client requests. I was taken aback by this comment, as we were working tirelessly for the past two days and I was sure about how I have envisioned structure for the client requirements. My approach to complete initial version

With no support from my manger and feeble information from my teammates, I was struggling a lot to complete the initial version of the document and to share it with the leadership team for review. With only a few hours left for the completion of the initial version, I have made up my stand and started to consolidate information as much as possible with a defined structure. At one point, it seemed the document had more information than what the client has initially requested, and I ensured all the topics that the leadership team mentioned in the call were addressed in the document. Before document to be shared with the leadership team, I had to review with my manager and as usual, he was suggesting some irrelevant changes that would not make any difference to the document and he was also requesting me to add some new information that was irrelevant to the flow. I had no other option but to implement those suggestions and this time I was acting smart by just copy-pasting the information from the previous document without even changing the content and just adding headline to that information. Most irritating act from delivery person

After politely declining to send a deck with draft outline and slides by EOD, I closed the conversation and was taking care of other activities pending at my end. However, after close of the day, I got a call from my manager and he was requesting whether I can support the service request over the weekend and it has urgent deliverable to be reviewed by the leadership team. I was completely surprised by the request, because before few hours I was clearly detailing out the reasons to the delivery person not to publish any version, as it would draw too many comments and would divert from client requirements. However, he had called my manager and was requesting his attention for my support over weekend. I was completely furious with these silly outcomes and was conveying to my manager that, I have some personal work to attend and would try to address the request whenever I get some time. He was expecting me to support for the entire weekend, which would be next to impossible for me and I don’t want to waste my time by publishing an unwanted version to leadership team.
